Award “best blue fish tapa”

On Tuesday, October 2 was held at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona the I Contest “Tapa Peix Blau” organized by the Confraternity of Pescadors of Barcelona.

Among the winners is the student Maria Fernanda Franco who prepared a tapa of “anchovy on toast with thai mango and prawn”

Culinary Arts Students visit GastroFira

As every year, 3rd year students of standard level in culinary Arts visited the facilities of Gastrofira.Through Gastrofira, Fira de Barcelona seeks to serve its customers a wide range of venues inboth locations, both in Montjuïc and Gran Via. Its aim is to enjoy a wide gastronomic offer based on high quality products and attentive service and detailed.

Students were able to tour the building and received a talk explaining everything thatencompasses this great company and their influence on the tourism sector in Barcelona.

Days of the Iberian ham

A campaign to lay the foundations of the culture of pure Iberian Ham and Iberian

ASICI, the Iberian Pig AIC organizes a popularizing effort with the qualities of purebred Iberian and Iberian ham as protagonists.

It aims to inform consumers of the real meaning of each of the qualities to succeed in Iberian ham choice every day.

Consider the final consumer, prescribers and the press, the main targets of the action.

And as prescribers of tomorrow, held a demonstration at the School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Service of Barcelona  to explain concepts, taught the correct cut of ham and offer a tasting of different varieties and qualities to the students of culinary arts.

A day at the Celler de Can Roca

One of the most anticipated visits by the students is the visit to the Restaurant Celler de Can Roca. Last Friday, November 11 the students og High Level of the professional training course in hospitality could again enjoy the warmth and professionalism of the brothers Roca i Fontané at their three Michelin stars restaurant considered the second best restaurant in the world (Saint Peregrine). His desire to continue providing new values ​​to magnify the high level gastronomy and total balance between tradition and creativity, common sense and consistency in relating the image and profitability, make them an example for future generations of chefs.

Importantly, the alumnus Gerard Canudas, first student sent to do an internship of six months at the Celler de Can Roca, is currently employed and working with Jordi Roca at the bakery. The alumnus Jose Delgado of the promotion of 2010 is doing his stage today with Joan Roca. And the Superior Degree graduate Cristina Garcia of the promotion in 2011, has recently joined the team of Josep Roca.

Hospitality students from Holland visited ESHOB

The Roc Mondriaan hotel school in Amsterdam, visited for the third consecutive year theESHOB facilities as part of a cultural and gastronomic journey performed annually in the city of Barcelona.

After the presentation and site visit, the Dutch group dined at the Restaurante L’Ham.

ESHOB has a new sponsor: HOTELS hotel chain CATALONIA join the work and dedication to train future professionals in the hospitality industry.

With these, there are now 11 official companies that support the formation of ESHOB as FiraBarcelona, Cafe Saula, Grupo Damm, NH Hoteles, Nestlé Professional, Gaspart FoundationBonet, FRIP, Expo Hotels and Mercabarna.

Presentation of the academic year 2011-2012

Presentacion escuela de cocina, pastelería y restauración ESHOB

Yesterday at ESHOB, took place the presentation of the 2011-2012 academic year. The school received more than 100 students prepared to start their classes in any of its specializations (cooking, pastry, service).

During the presentation, explained the benefits and services available to students, course objectives and introduce some of the professors. The Principal Iñaki Gorostiaga emphasize the importance of  service attitude, teamwork, commitment and discipline, basic values in the profession.

The students of vocational training (standard level) will return on Monday September 12 to begin their classes, likewise the Higher Level students will start on September 19.
